Apartment Review
bad place to live-dangerous for single person
Review Date: 2/10/2006 Reviewer: Anonymous
I am a single young woman living here at casa madrid. it is not a very safe place to live if you are living alone. My car got broken into two times within one week. i drive a toyota corrolla, a somewhat decent car. i had a stereo system in it, which i ALWAYS turned off before getting near the apartments. One morning, i went out to my car, and all of it was gone. my lock was picked open. Exactly a week later, my car got broken into once again except my window was broken even though there was nothing in my car to steal. this was so inconvenient since i was on my way to work both days. i actually had to take the day off of work the second time to get my window fixed. I went into the leasing office two times to tell them about my inconveniences. i asked about the security cameras and if i could get a copy of the tapes so i could review them. they told me that they couldn't do it themselves. the office told me that i had to contact the police dept and have them request a copy from the apt's "IT" department in order to look them up. the office manager told me that the tapes are recorded for a week, but when i asked the police dept about it, they said that it didn't even record at all. so what is the point of having security cameras at all? Also, the office managers told me that they rarely have had any cases of cars getting broken into, which was not true because i spoke with some other residents and they told me that it os very common and they they themselves had been victims of this inconvenience.......another incident that happend was when i paid my first month's rent (which was prorated since i moved in mid-month) they gave me the wrong amount that i had to pay, so that is the amount i made the check out for. Once the first of the month came, they left a nasty note on my door stating that i would be evicted if i didn't pay my rent on time. But i DID pay my rent on time. So i had to waste my time and go to the leasing office and tell them that i paid the rent, and that I shouldn't be charged a late fee. So i paid the remaining balance using my debit card. The next month, they were telling me i owed a $50 late charge. That was bull----My last incident was on one of my days off, i was just going to lounge by the pool, when, after i got in my swinsuit with my tanning oils all on, the maintence crew comes over and tells me that the pool is going to be closed in a half an hour. so i told them i wasn't going to leave since i wasn't going to use the pool.. so the maintenance guy bring out one of the leasing managers to kick me out. so i told her that i was never officially informed that the pool was going to be closed. Instead of handling the situation in a calm matter, the manager lady approached me with anger and contempt. She also threatened to call the cops on me if i didn't vacate the premises (how rude!). a little while later, another manager came out and asked me if i wanted to go next door ( at the Villager), since it is owned by the same company. I thought that was a great i dea so turned to the other manager and said why she couldnt have suggested that idea in the first place. She responded in a rude way...... In a nutshell, management is rude and non-helpful (rather clueless), it is unsafe, and rent is too expensive for what you get!!!!!!! NOT RECOMMENDED AT ALL!!!. |
