Apartment Review
If you enjoy a good quality of life, DO NOT rent h

I lived in Mariposa (formerly Vista Pointe) for 12 months and for the first few weeks it seemed ok, until I began to notice certain things. For example, I had never heard my upstairs neighbors until one day when it sounded like they were dragging elephants across the floor. It was so bad it shook my couch & frightened me, so I called management and found out they were just moving in. I allowed a few days for that moving noise but then called to complain again, and let's just put it this way: every night my walls, windows, furniture and even a windchime would shake whenever the tenants moved and management did nothing. That went on for 12 months.

The upstairs neighbors also emptied the vaccuum bags as well as dirty water into my yard and one time even dumped whitewash all over an antique bench my grandmother gave me before passing away. Management did nothing and would not compensate me for the bench. I also had an issue where each time a certain set of sprinklers would come on my patio area would flood with mud up to the doorstep, and if I even so much as opened the sliding glass door an inch the mud would flow onto the carpet. Management did nothing & I ended up bagging the excess mud/dirt myself & taking it to the dump.

They do not allow guest parking on the premises but say that guests can park on the side street. There is NEVER room on the sidestreet because there are 5 families crammed into each apartment and as such there are tons of vehicles always parked out there.

My vehicle was broken into and my tools, stereo/cd player and even the vents from the dashboard were all stolen, along with the gate remote. When I called management to let them know I needed a new remote the woman said she had no idea when the remote order was coming in & so she had no idea when I could get a replacement. When I began asked what I should do in the meantime she cut me off and said I was the fourth person to have their vehicle broken into that week so it wasn't "all about me". I was in shock. 3 days before I moved out I caught 5 men, in broad daylight, breaking into my vehicle again but they took off and since I had no evidence the police couldn't do anything. Management just said "oh, ok" when I called to inform them.

There is a children's park in the complex but I have only seen obvious gang members congregating there, and again management does nothing. I did not even feel comfortable walking to the mailboxes in broad daylight, let alone my carport or the dumpster, and I live alone so it was extremely nerve-wracking.

The entire complex is infested with german cockroaches, and this is no joke: I sprayed bug spray into a crack from the kitchen cabinet to the ceiling and about 70 roaches came pouring out. That was not even the worst of it; when I took down a painting they came pouring out of the canvas and when I opened my microwave one day there were about a dozen inside, so I sprayed the interior and they came pouring out from the inner workings of the microwave. I also found them in my DVD cases, and had to throw out my coffee maker, toaster, blender, microwave and fridge because they were all infested and no amount of fumigation would get rid of them. They are in the structure. Management told me I was the only one complaining and that they do routine spraying, but I have never once seen someone spray.

Every time I left a message for management I did not ever receive a return call, even when my water was off for some reason. They have never once called me back; the only way I could get any help was to wait around the office until someone came in. If you expect a decent place to live, or even if you expect a so-so place to live, do not rent here. Only rent here if you have no regard for your quality of life, your safety or your health.
