I've lived here a couple years. The recent renovations are a joke... basically a band-aid and paint-slap job. Very sloppy... but all comestic just so it looks great and inviting from the street--- until you actually move in and see it for what it's worth. The remodel was (as we were told a year ago by United Dominion staff) to include full interior renovation, "gutting out" the walls, new plumbing, the works. They basically just laid down new carpet, slapped on new interior paint (very sloppy jobs-- as some patches of non-enamel paint were used to patch up over the glossy paint), new flooring in the kitchen and bathroom-- but very cheaply done. The halls are still dirty... rarely ever cleaned. The trash rooms are better than they used to be, but that can be a challenge sometimes as new residents dump their moving boxes, stacked ceiling-high, and other large appliances. Stay away from the pool. It's never clean. As a matter of fact, the county health department closed the pool down a couple weeks ago, and just the other day kids were swimming in it, but the management since cordoned off the pool with yellow caution-tape and paper signs they printed up saying no swimming allowed. There's duck feces all over the pool deck. The landscaping is very shoddy... mainly sparse with a lot of dirt and patches of crabgrass. The gardeners were out yesterday, putting in new shrubs but we'll see how well that goes. A lot of the ceiling fixtures in the hallways are busted, with only bulbs exposed, if not just the wiring with the bulbs missing. The carpets are stained (hence sometimes immature youth vandals are responsible for that-- or pissed off renters who are moving out). In some buildings the celings are exposed to the wooded frames and plumbing--- as the stucco has been ripped out--- but haven't been replaced. When they re-did the elevators, it was supposed to be for a short time-frame, which ended up taking weeks. No help to those who are disabled and can't use the stairs. The parking is "ok," just as long as you don't come in too late... or otherwise you may not be able to park near where your unit is--- as it fills up. They do nothing about parking control here, although they boast about doing so in periodic letters they leave on our doors. A lot of jackasses will park over the lines, directly over a line, or in spots where two cars can fit. The main gate by the leasing office has been open during all hours, even though they sent us letters saying they would start to close it. That lasted about three days. Now it's been back open again for a few months steadily. There is Security personell here, but their job is to only walk around and just make notations and report to whomever they need to. They will not intervene in any situations that may warrant them to as instead they'll call their dispatcher who will then call Anaheim Police. You're better off just calling the cops yourself if you need it. Security is only meant as a visual deterrent. You can find a couple of them outside after dark, hanging out and chilling by the driveway of the leasing office. I really can't complain about the office staff, like other's have, but they've been okay with me. They have laundry rooms here in each building, but they're not all that great. Its okay for basic washing, but if you ever need to do some serious washing-- go to a laundrymat. The washers won't get out stains like regular machines do. Sometimes the laundry rooms can be found dirty, littered with trash, and sometimes hogged by other residents. Many a time my husband and I have gone down to wash our clothes and found that one resident using up all the machines at once. Sometimes when you go to put more money on your laundry card--- the machine in the mail room where you take care of it will sometimes not take any more dollars, and will sit for days until the leasing office gets someone out from CoinMach to fix it. Sometimes they turn the water off here in the buildings, but if it's done ahead of time-- they'll usually leave notices on your door to let you know when it will be off and for how long (recently, it's been construction-related). BUT, they have been known to shut off water without warning! Most of the neighbors here are okay. Occasionally you'll hear some people in surrounding units be loud when watching a sports game, or playing their music, but overall it's been quiet. Sometimes you'll hear kids running around through the sidewalks of the courtyard, but not often. Occasionally we'll hear minor thuds from people above us. So basically if you pretty much keep to yourself, and just come and go with your daily routine... it's liveable. The rent prices aren't too bad, but we'll see how that fares. We wouldn't be surprised if Alliance Residential sells this place just like the previous owners did (United Dominion) once they've seen what they've bought. Who knows... it may be condos one day. Doubt it.
